The purpose of CS members.in (“Platform”) is to connect the members of ICSI across the world and provide networking and professional opportunities for them to be more successful and productive in their career.
Through this Privacy Policy, We want You to understand what information We collect, and how We use, retain and share it. We encourage You to read Our Privacy Policy. This helps You use Our Platform that is best suitable to Your needs.
You can manage Your information in the Settings of the website and update Your Settings to shape Your preferences.
Our registered users (“Members”) share their professional identities, engage with their network, exchange knowledge and professional insights, post and view relevant content, publish articles, interact in discussion forums, learn and develop skills, and find business, classified information and career opportunities. Some of the content on the Platform is viewable to Visitors.
If You are accessing Our Platform from India or any other country other than Specific Countries, this Policy shall apply. If You are accessing Our Platform from Specific Countries, Your country laws shall apply. To ensure compliance with Your country laws, please go through the designated Privacy Statements provided on Our Platform. Specific Countries mean European Economic Area Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and Brazil.
Terms capitalized but not defined herein shall have the meaning assigned to it under the User Agreement.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Information We collect from You
Profile Information
1.1.1 To become a “Member” on this Platform, You can create a profile using Your email address, choosing a password, and providing your nickname, Your name as per ICSI records, ICSI membership number, the membership number of another CS You know, profile type as well as Your office and residence area pin codes.
1.1.2 The Platform further allows You to share personal and professional information, Your education, work experience, skills, profile photo. To view the data required for creation and updation of profile, please Click here. This information is not mandatory to provide under law. However, We recommend You to update such additional information related to You, to efficiently leverage Services provided by Our Platform. It’s Your choice whether to include sensitive information on Your profile and to make that sensitive information public.
We request You to not post or add personal information to Your profile that You would not want to be publicly available.
1.1.3 If You wish to avail Our Premium Services or enroll to Our paid courses on the Platform, You need to share payment details like credit card details and billing information.
Posting and Uploading
1.1.4 We may collect personal information based on Your activities on Our Platform including posts or articles shared by You or groups you are part of or uploads such as when You fill out a form, (e.g., with demographic data or salary), respond to a survey, or submit a resume or fill out a job application on Our Platform. We collect information related to Your comments or likes on other Members posts on the Platform.
1.2 Information We collect from others
1.2.1 We may find information related to You from other Members such as articles, posts, mentions, comments or videos. We collect information that relates to You such as professional-related news and accomplishments, and make it available as part of Our services, as permitted by settings.
1.2.2 We receive personal information about You when You use the services of Our customers and partners, such as employers or prospective employers and applicant tracking systems providing Us job application information. We collect information about friends, followers, groups, accounts and other users and communities that You are connected to and interact with. This includes how You interact with them and which ones You interact with the most.
1.3 Your device and locations
1.3.1 We track information related to usage of Our Platform such as the time, frequency and duration of Your activities on Our products. Location and tracking information on the Platform can be disabled based on Your preferences in Settings.
1.3.2 We collect and receive information from and about the different devices You use and how You use them, information about the network that You connect Your device to, including Your IP address. We log usage information when You visit or otherwise use Our services, including Our sites, app and Platform technology, such as when You view or click on content (e.g., learning video) or ads (on or off Our sites and apps), perform a search, install or update one of Our mobile apps, share articles or apply for jobs.
1.4 Messages
1.4.1 We collect information about You when You send, receive, or engage with messages in connection with Our services, subject to applicable law.
1.5 Sites and services of others
1.5.1 We receive information about Your visits and interaction with services provided by others when You log-in with Our Platform or visit others’ services that include some of Our plugins (such as “Apply with CAmembers.in” or Our ads, cookies or similar technologies.
1.5.2 Partners also share with Us their communications with You if they instruct Us to provide services to their business, such as helping them manage their communications. To learn how a business processes or shares Your information, read their privacy policy or contact them directly.
1.5.3 These partners collect Your information when You visit their site or app or use their services, or through other businesses or organizations they work with. We require partners to have the right to collect, use and share Your information before giving it to Us.
1.6 Other
1.6.1 Our Services are dynamic, and We often introduce new features, which may require the collection of new information. If We collect materially different personal information or materially change how We collect, use or share Your information, We will update on Our Platform. The latest revision date will be provided at the beginning of this Agreement and Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this Platform following the posting of changes or updates will be considered as Your acceptance to abide by and be bound by the revised terms.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We Use Your information to provide personalized experience to You, including ads, along with the other purposes as provided below.
2.1 Stay connected
2.1.1 Our Services allow You to stay in touch and up to date with colleagues, partners, clients, and other professional contacts.
2.1.2 We use information about You (such as Your profile, profiles You have viewed or Your location or partner integrations) to help others find Your profile, suggest connections for You and others and enable You to invite others to become a Member and connect with You. We also use Your location or proximity to connect with others in Your locality or job/Event/ Listing recommendations based on Your location.
2.1.3 It is Your choice whether to invite someone to Our Services, send a connection request, or allow another Member to become Your connection. When You invite someone to connect with You, Your invitation will include Your network and basic profile information (e.g., name, profile photo, job title, region). We will send invitation reminders to the person You invited. You can choose whether or not to share Your own list of connections with Your connections.
2.2 Career
2.2.1 Our Services allow You to stay informed about news, events and ideas regarding professional topics You care about, and from professionals You follow. Our Services also allow You to improve Your professional skills or learn new ones. We use the information We have about You (e.g., information You provide, information We collect from Your engagement with Our services and inferences We make from the information We have about You), to provide personalised Services to, such as recommending or ranking relevant content and conversations on Our Services. We also use the information We have about You to suggest skills You could add to Your profile and skills that You might need to pursue Your next opportunity.
2.2.2 Our Services allow You to explore career opportunities that include based on Your educational qualifications, and seek out, and be found for, jobs available. Your profile can be found by those looking to hire (for a job or a specific task) or be hired by You. We will use Your information to recommend jobs or mentees, show You and others relevant professional contacts (e.g., who work at a company, in an industry, function or location or have certain skills and connections). You can update and inform the wider community that You are interested in changing jobs and share Your information with recruiters. We will use Your information to recommend jobs to You and You to recruiters.
2.3 Productivity
2.3.1 Our Services allow You to collaborate with colleagues, explore for potential clients, customers, partners and others to do business with. Our Services allow You to communicate with other Members and schedule meetings with them.
2.4 Premium Services
2.4.1 We sell Premium Services that provide Our customers and subscribers with customized-search functionality and tools (including messaging and activity alerts) as part of Our talent, marketing and sales solutions. Customers can export limited information from Your profile, such as name, headline, current company, current title, and general location (e.g., Mumbai), such as to manage sales leads or talent, unless You opt out. We do not provide contact information to customers as part of these Premium Services without Your consent. Premium Services customers can store information they have about You in Our Premium services, such as a resume or contact information or sales history.
2.5 Communications
2.5.1 We will reach out to You through Your email, mobile phone or by posting notices on Our Platform, or message to Your inbox on Our Platform, and other ways through Our Services, including text messages and push notifications. We will inform You through messages about the availability of Our Services, security, or other service-related issues. We also communicate regarding how to use Our Services, network updates, reminders, job suggestions and promotional messages from Us and Our partners. You may change Your communication preferences at any time. Please be aware that You cannot opt out of receiving Service messages from Us, including security and legal notices.
2.6 Advertising
2.6.1 We customize ads to Members, Visitors and others both on and off Our Services directly or through a variety of partners, using information from advertising technologies, information provided by Members, information from Your use of Services (including search history, news feed content, groups and Members You are following)
2.6.2 We will show You ads called sponsored content which look similar to non-sponsored content, except that they are labelled as advertising (e.g., as “ad” or “sponsored”). If You take a social action (such as like, comment or share) on these ads, Your action is associated with Your name and viewable by others, including the advertiser. Subject to Your Settings, if You take a social action on Our Platform, that action may be mentioned with related ads. For example, when You like a company, We may include Your name and photo when their sponsored content is shown.
2.7 Marketing
2.7.1 We do not share Your personal information with any third-party advertisers or ad networks except for: (i) hashed IDs or device identifiers; (ii) with Your specific permission (e.g., in a lead generation form) or (iii) information already visible to any Members/ Visitors of the Services (e.g., profile). However, if You view or click on an ad either on Our Platform or otherwise, the ad provider will get a signal that someone visited the page that displayed the ad, and they may, through the use of mechanisms such as cookies, determine it is You.
2.8 Developing services and research
2.8.1 We use information, including public feedback, to conduct research and development for Our Services in order to provide You and others with a better, more intuitive and personalized experience.
Research
2.8.2 We use the personal information available to Us to research social, economic and workplace trends, such as jobs availability and skills needed for these jobs and policies that help bridge the gap in various industries and geographic areas.
Surveys
2.8.3 Polls and surveys are conducted by Us and others through Our Services. You are not obligated to respond to polls or surveys, and You have choices about the information You provide. You may opt out of survey invitations.
2.9 Security and investigations
2.9.1We use Your information (including Your communications) for security purposes or to prevent or investigate possible fraud or other violations of Our User Agreement and/or attempts to harm Our Members, Visitors or others.
2.10 Other
2.10.1 In case of any complaints or other grievances, We use information (which can include Your communications) to investigate, respond to and resolve complaints and other service issues like bugs.
3. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
3.1 Profile
3.1.1 Your profile is fully visible to all Members and customers of Our Services. Subject to Your Settings, Your profile can be visible to others who are on or off of Our Platform (e.g., Visitors to our services or users of third- party search engines or other service providers). You may edit Your Settings to control the degree of connection with the Members viewing Your profile, the subscriptions they may have depending on their Settings, access channels and search types (e.g., by name or by keyword) also impact the availability of Your profile and whether they can view certain fields in Your profile.
3.2 Posts, likes, follows, comments, messages
3.2.1 When You share an article, post publicly or comment in discussions, it can be viewed by everyone and re-shared by other on the Platform, subject to Your Settings. In a group, posts are visible to other Members in the group. Your membership in groups is public and part of Your profile, but You can change visibility in Your Settings. Any information You share through companies’ or other organizations’ pages on Our Services will be viewable by it and others who visit those pages. When You follow a Member or an organization, this information is available to others.
3.3 Enterprise accounts
3.3.1 Your employer may offer You access to Our enterprise services such as recruiter, sales navigator or Our advertising campaign manager. Your employer can review and manage Your use of such enterprise services.
3.4 Communication archival
3.4.1 We understand that some Members would like to archive their communications. We provide archival of one-to-one messages among the Members.
3.5 Related services
3.5.1 We will share Your personal information with Our affiliates to provide and develop Our Platform. We may combine information internally available covered by this Privacy Policy to help Our Services be more relevant and useful to You and others. For example, We may personalize Your feed or job recommendations based on Your learning history.
3.6 Legal disclosure
3.6.1 There may be a requirement to disclose information about You under the law, subpoena, or other legal process or if We believe that the disclosure is in good faith and is reasonably necessary to (1) prevent, investigate or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities or to assist government enforcement agencies; (2) enforce Our agreements with You; (3) investigate and further defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations; (4) protect the integrity and security of Our Services (such as by sharing with companies facing similar threats); or (5) exercise or protect the rights and safety of Our Platform, Our Members, personnel or others. We will in Our best efforts, try to inform Members about legal demands for their personal information when appropriate in Our judgment, unless prohibited by law or court order or when the request is an emergency. We may dispute such demands when We believe, in Our discretion, that the requests are vague or lack proper authority, but We do not promise to challenge every demand.
3.7 Change in control or sale
3.7.1 We can also share Your personal information when there is a sale, merger or change in control, or when preparing for any of these events. Any other entity which buys Us or part of Our business will have the right to continue to use Your information, but only in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy unless You agree otherwise.
4. YOUR CHOICES AND OBLIGATIONS
4.1 Data retention
4.1.1 We generally retain Your personal information as long as You keep Your account open or as needed to provide You Services. This includes information You or others provide Us and information generated or inferred from Your use of Our Services. Even if You use Our Platform only to look for a new job once in few years, We will retain Your information and keep Your profile open, unless You close Your account. In some cases, We choose to retain certain information (e.g., insights about services use) in a depersonalized or aggregated form.
4.1.2 If You delete Your account, Your account may not be available for others to view. However, We may take a few days to delete the account from Our Platform.
4.1.3 We retain Your personal information even after You have closed Your account if reasonably required to comply with Our legal obligations (including law enforcement requests), to meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce Our User Agreement, or fulfill Your request to ‘unsubscribe’ from further messages from Us. We will retain de-personalized information after You close Your account for record purposes.
4.2 Rights to access and control Your personal information
4.2.1 Members on Our Platform have several options on how You control information. This includes deleting, changing/correcting, limit or restrict or right to access or obtain information.
5. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
5.1 Security
5.1.1 We store Your information in electronic form. We take all necessary precautions to protect Your personal information and implement reasonable security practices and measures including certain managerial, technical, operational and physical security control measures that are commensurate with respect to the information being collected and the nature of Our business. The security measures are designed to protect Your information, such as HTTPS. We will regularly monitor Our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks. Specific care is taken in relation to personal information to ensure against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, misuse, modification or de-anonymization.
5.2 Right to remove content
5.2.1 Our Platform provides open communication to all the Members in the form of blog posts, blog comments, forums, message boards, ratings and reviews, listings and various social media services. It might not be feasible for Us to screen or monitor all information that You share on Our Platform. However, we reserve the right to review the content and monitor Your activity on Our Platform and remove or reject any information in our sole discretion. By posting information or otherwise using any open communication tools as mentioned, You agree that Your content will comply with all the terms of this Policy and is not illegal or unlawful or infringe any person’s / organization’s legal rights.
5.3 Lawful bases for processing
5.3.1 We will only collect and process personal information about You where we have lawful bases. Lawful bases include consent from You, agreement (where processing is necessary for the performance of an agreement with You (e.g., to deliver the Services You have requested) and ‘legitimate interests’.
5.4 Direct marketing and do not track signals
5.4.1 We currently do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes without Your permission.
5.4.2 Our Platform responds to and supports the Do Not Track (DNT) header request field. If You turn DNT on in Your browser, those preferences are communicated to Us in the HTTP request header, and We will not track Your browsing behaviour.
